BLUESTONE ELEGANCE IN SADDLE RIVER

Project Description

This collaborative project married the extraordinary talents of landscape architect Deborah Cerbone, Stonetown Construction (patio and masonry), Marson Pools (pool installation), Jan Fence (fencing), A&C Sprinkler (irrigation), and Magic Landscaping (plantings, lighting, and lawn installation). The Magic approach to this project was “less is more.” The beautiful large expanse of lawn gives way to traditional landscaping that does not overwhelm the magnificence of the 14-acre property, which also features a pond, natural meadow, and woodland.

Project Challenges

Two noticeable challenges were deciding on the perfect location of the formal swimming pool (steep slope, setback ordinances) and addressing an unsightly electrical utility box. A beautiful freestanding wall was constructed to provide privacy and serenity. Additionally, a large retaining wall was constructed on the opposite side to provide a level area for the pool, garden, and lawn area. To mitigate the view of the utility box, we suggested amending the grading plan provided by the engineer. Stone walls were constructed to encircle the box, and we re-graded the slope, essentially making the box disappear. Behind the scenes, we worked with the utility company to ensure proper drainage and clearance. Magic Landscaping routinely thinks “out of the box” to deliver outstanding results and preserve our clients’ best interests.
