An Intimate Outdoor Escape

1. Significant Elevation Differences
   The original site had a 16- to 18-inch grade difference, making the space inaccessible. Raising the patio required a careful balance of engineering and design.

2. Managing Water Flow
   Before adding any design elements, we had to implement a drainage system to prevent runoff and flooding, ensuring the space remains dry and usable.

3. Maximizing a Compact Space
   This intimate backyard needed to accommodate a BBQ area, dining space, and firepit while maintaining an open, welcoming feel. Careful zoning and furniture placement made it all possible.

4. Maintaining Long-Term Scale and Privacy
   To create a private oasis, we used Green Giant Arborvitae, a species that provides excellent screening. We also implemented a strategic pruning plan to prevent overgrowth while maintaining the perfect balance of privacy and openness.

Through careful planning and expert execution, we transformed these challenges into a cohesive, inviting, and highly functional outdoor space that allows the homeowners to cook, relax, and entertain with ease.
